Why Learn Lian Martial Arts?

LIAN is simple to learn. It consists of highly accurate and distinctive movements which can be easily understood.
LIAN can be practiced by all age groups as its features movements and forms which are uncomplicated and noncomplex.
To learn LIAN, you will first learn its unique concept. This will enable better application of the various techniques and skills.
The basic movements of LIAN involve moving the body from side to side. The feet and hands move simultaneously with one another in the same direction.
LIAN will help to develop good hand and leg coordination.
Due to its simple yet effective nature, the practical techniques of LIAN can be immediately applied upon learning especially in self-defense.
LIAN emphasizes on the smooth flow of one form to another. Jurus and Lian are unique forms that can be learned in LIAN.
LIAN can only be found in Malaysia. It is recognized as one of the oldest forms of traditional martial arts in Malaysia.

Lian Malaysia was set up originally to help our students train in the ease of their own home during the Movement Control Order (MCO) Covid-19 crisis.

LIAN is a form of martial art that is unique to the Malay ethnic group in Malaysia. It can be used as a means of self-defence during everyday life.

We would like to introduce this Malay martial art to students within Malaysia and as well as other parts of the world.

With the help of LIAN online, LIAN can now be learned by just about anyone and anywhere in the world. We welcome you to come and join our LIAN family.

Online Training Course Structure

The Lian Malaysia online training programme is broken down into these modules. You are expected to complete a module before you can move to the next one.

You will need to finish all 4 modules to be a certified LIAN instructor and LIAN practitioner.

First Module

Jurus 1, 2, 3, 4 + Jurus Perdana

The First Module will build your foundation into the techniques of the Lian art. It also contains core exercises and conditioning to build muscle memory to be able to execute Lian well in the upcoming modules.

Jurus 1, Jurus 2, Jurus 3 and Jurus 4.
Two (2) applications of each Jurus.
An extra Jurus 5 (Perdana) – A combination of 5 Jurus in one movement.
In this Module, you will get a FREE ‘Pelampas’ exercise. This exercise is a MUST, it is to be practiced before each class or before you start a module.
In this Module, you will get a FREE ‘Belebat’ exercise. This exercise is a MUST, it is to be practiced with your partner and after the ‘Pelampas’ exercise.
During the ‘Belebat’ exercise you are allowed to have one (1) partner to help you with your exercise.
A duration of 2 – 4 months will be required to complete this module.

Second Module

Lian 1, 2, 3, 4

The Second Module we will dive deeper into more advanced techniques of the Lian Art. While Jurus builds your foundation, Lian is the actual technique in the Lian Art. There 16 Lian techniques all together. The Second Module will cover four of the eight.

Lian 1, Lian 2, Lian 3 and Lian 4.
One (1) application of each Lian.
An extra Jurus 5 (Tumbuk Tiga)
In this Module, you are required to perform the ‘Pelampas’ exercise. This exercise will help improve your movements when learning Lian 1-4.
In this Module, you are required to perform the ‘Belebat’ exercise. This exercise will help you to improve your hand and leg skills when learning Lian 1-4.
A duration of 2 – 4 months will be required to complete this module.

Third Module

Lian 5, 6, 7, 8

The Third Module will continue with Lian 5 all the way to Lian 8.

Lian 5, Lian 6, Lian 7 and Lian 8.
One (1) application of each Lian.
An extra ‘Pelampas’ exercise.
In this Module, you are required to perform the ‘Pelampas’ exercise. This exercise will help improve your movements when learning Lian 5-8.
In this Module, you are required to perform the ‘Belebat’ exercise. This exercise will help you to improve your hand and leg skills when learning Lian 5-8.
A duration of 2 – 4 months will be required to complete this module.

Fourth Module

Lian Khatam (KH) + Lian Asing

Completing this module, and with assessment by our masters, you will be deemed a Lian practitioner and a graduate of the Lian Malaysia curriculum.

Lian KH 1, Lian KH 2, Lian KH 3, Lian KH 4 and four (4) additional Lian called Lian Asing. (A Total of eight (8) Lian in this Module).
One (1) application of each Lian.
In this Module, you are required to perform the ‘Pelampas’ exercise. This exercise will help improve your movements when learning Lian Khatam.
In this Module, you are required to perform the ‘Belebat’ exercise. This exercise will help you improve your hand and leg skills when learning Lian Khatam.
A duration of 2 – 4 months will be required to complete this module.

Fifth Module (Optional)

One-on-One Coaching

At any level of your Lian study, you may take up our One-on-One Coaching Programme with our Lian Certified Instructors and Masters. This is subjected to availability.

Sixth Module (Optional)

Malaysia Lian Retreat

From time to time, we will organize our Malaysia Lian Retreat for our international disciples. This will help you understand more about the art and develop a deeper understanding and appreciation about Lian Malaysia. Announcement will be made when this event will be conducted.
